Account Manager – Swine (SW Minnesota/NW Iowa Preferred)

The Account Manager will manage existing customer relationships and develop new business in the Feed Mill/Swine Producers sectors. This position will also call on Veterinarians and Nutritionists.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Undergraduate Degree (BS/BA) in Agriculture, Animal Science, Animal Nutrition or related field.
  • Knowledge and experience of the operation of feed mills.
  • Knowledge and experience of swine production systems: sows, nursery, and Grow-Finish.
  • Animal Health knowledge and experience preferred.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ sales experience in the swine sector preferred.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite.
  • Must be well organized and detail oriented.
  • Must have excellent oral, verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Willing to drive to customer locations across defined territory.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to travel daily, with some overnight stays.
  • Must be able to work independently from a home office.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs. and climb stairs.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and maintain productive business relationships with customers in the feed mill and swine producers that result in greater sales of product.
  • Identify and build relationships with key swine industry influencers that will allow for further penetration into the Feed Mill/Large Swine Integrators, including Veterinarians, Nutritionists, Producers and Distributors.
  • Utilize excellent presentation and selling skills to identify and demonstrate the need for our product offering with key Feed Mills and Large Swine Integrators.
  • Able to manage a broad geographic area and identify the call points to achieve sales targets and business objectives.
  • Build and maintain knowledge of industry trends and be able to qualify the differences between our product and the competitors’ products.
  • Build trust with customers through developing reliability, credibility and follow-up.
  • Ensure overall customer satisfaction and deliver necessary sales results.
  • Able to work with fellow Account Managers and Technical Service employees effectively as a team.
  • Able to represent the Swine Team at conferences, customer appreciation trips and trade shows.
