Manufacturing Technician – Biologics/Vaccines
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Huvepharma is seeking Manufacturing Technicians that will conduct day to day activities of the biological manufacturing operations as assigned and will assist in the execution of research projects. Seeking Entry to Lead Level Technicians.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biology, Biochemistry, or related field of study.
- 1-7 years of relevant experience is desired
- At least 2 years of industry experience is required in lieu of college degree
- Experience in a USDA or FDA regulated environment is preferred
TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Demonstrated ability to learn and follow site, equipment, and personnel trafficking policies.
- Basic Mechanical Skills
- Must be able to read, understand and execute detailed written instructions.
- Must be able to use MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Good math skills for calculating concentrations of solutions.
- Familiarity with aseptic technique, general laboratory equipment, and proper PPE is a requirement.
- Aseptic Technique, Bacteriology, Virology, and Tissue Culture experience is preferred.
- Familiar with media preparation and pouring plates is preferred.
- Experience working in a biosafety cabinet is preferred.
- Knowledge of proper PPE for handling microbial agents is preferred.
- Knowledge of proper data capture, such as with Notebooks, or Process Worksheets is desired.
- Knowledge of equipment use such as autoclaves, microscopes, incubators, automatic pipettes, shakers, water baths is strongly preferred.
- Must be able to interact with and express requirements in a positive and professional way to colleagues at all levels within the organization.

This position requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting on a routine basis. This position could lift to 50lbs., on occasion. Some sitting for computer tasks and data recording is also routine.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Learn and understand basic microbiological techniques to prepare and maintain cultures, including inoculating, inactivating, harvesting and dispensing product as applicable to bacterial antigen production.
- Learn to operate, clean, and perform minor maintenance on equipment, such as fermenters, centrifuges, and filtration units.
- Performs routine operations for cleaning and replacement of glassware, solutions preparation, autoclaving and general lab organization.
- Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, laboratories, and other rooms.
- Records data promptly and accurately.
- Monitors lab equipment.
- Conducts work in accordance with appropriate company policies and regulatory agencies.
- Conducts work in accordance with company safety requirements.
- Supports manufacturing and packaging/shipping efforts as needed.
- Surveys facility to ensure that all areas are in excellent working conditions (organized/clean, safety, lights working, etc.)
- Implements task lists as outlined by supervisor or other senior laboratory personnel.
- Assists other laboratory/manufacturing personnel in high volume, multiple-task related activities.
- May assist in developing procedures for internal and external customers, including protocol development, SOP development, and personnel training.
- Maintains accurate inventories of raw material, in-process material, and finished goods.
